Joshua Patout
“Radio ad changed my life”
It’s amazing to hear about training opportunities on the radio and within days you can change your outlook on life, states Joshua Patout, a client of DESI Career Training Center. Joshua contacted DESI to get some guidance on career options and decided to enroll in the WorkKeys training program. Joshua has always had the desire for something better. However, a series of dead end jobs (although a high school graduate) and no clear direction in life left him stagnate and not sure what avenues he needed to pursue in order to move forward.
After enrolling, Joshua completed the on-line training, took the Alabama Career Readiness Test and earned a GOLD Certificate. “I so grateful for all of the help I have received from the staff at DESI. I hope that I can be an example and encourage my younger brother,” states Joshua.
Getting a Career Readiness Certificate allows you to show prospective (and current) employers that you possess the basic skills they are looking for. Even if you have a high school diploma, GED, or a post-secondary degree, the CRC further verifies that you can handle tasks such as finding information, reading instructions and directions, and working with figures - that are common in today’s workplace. The scores and results were submitted to the Alabama Office of Workforce Development, which certified the certificates and secured the signatures of Governor Bob Riley and Alabama College System Chancellor. The certificate can be submitted to any employer in the United States of America along with other required pre-hire documents. The Career Readiness Certificate is supported by the Alabama Office of Workforce Development, Alabama Community College System, Manufacture Alabama, Business Council of Alabama, Alabama AFL-CIO, Mobile Works, the Mobile Public School System, the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and numerous other industries, associations, agencies and organizations.
