What is an Individual Training Scholarship? - An Individual Training Scholarship is designed to give eligible adult candidates like you the means to learn a skill and attend school for up to two years free. Depending on your interests, previous level of education and institution selected, you could even earn a degree. Additional education or training can result in a higher wage job for you!
Do I qualify for an Individual Training Scholarship? - Mobile Works will be glad to meet with you to discuss your unique situation. In order to be in the program, you must register at the Alabama Career Center for employment. If you are unable to find a job because you need additional training, you can apply at that point for the program. You do need to meet income requirements or be a dislocated worker in need of retraining. Our goal is to help as many local adult jobseekers get into this program to receive training as we can.
Where can I go to school? - You may go to school or receive training for specific programs at one of these training / educational institutions (please check with us or directly with the institution to learn more about the specific programs we fund):
What is the deadline to apply? Scholarships for all institutions are awarded throughout our entire fiscal year of July 1 - June 30th. TIP: It's wise to plan in advance for the admissions process (plan a course of study, have your GED/ACT/SAT test scores, H.S. diploma, transcripts, etc., ready) as scholarships for many programs may be awarded in advance of spring, fall and summer semesters.
How do I get more information about this program? - Please go in person to see Mobile Works today at the Alabama Career Center, where we have individual training scholarship specialists available to answer your questions and assist you throughout the Individual Training Scholarships application process.
