Robert A. Greer - Immediate Past Chairman of the Board, 2003-2004

Robert Greer was born and raised in Mobile, where he attended the public schools of Old Shell Road, Sidney Phillips, Murphy and Davidson. During his school years, Greer attained the level of Eagle Scout and is a Silver Beaver recipient. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in business administration in 1976. While at Auburn, he was a member and President of Phi Delta Theta and was later President of the Mobile Auburn Alumni Association. Greer joined his family's supermarket business after his college graduation in 1976 and worked his way up to his current position. As Vice President of Autry Greer & Sons Inc.-which owns and operates over 40 Greer's Food Tiger stores, employing over 700 people in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida-Greer has successfully combined business and civic duties for over 28 years. In addition to his commitment to the Mobile Works board, for which he was Chairman of the Board for the 2003-2004 fiscal year, Greer also serves on the executive board of the Mobile area Boy Scouts of America. He served as President of the Board of the Epilepsy Foundation of South Alabama for two years. Greer has served on the board of the Bay Area Food Bank for over ten years and was President for two years. He is also Chairman-elect of the Mobile United board. Greer is also President of the Rotary Club of Mobile and has been elected to be District Governor in 2006/2007. He is also a graduate of Leadership Mobile and is active in Chamber activities.
