BUSINESS AFTER HOURS EVENT THURSDAY MAY 25, 2006
Over 150 Local Business People Representing over Sixty Mobile
Businesses Attended The Event Held At The Alabama Career Center
MOBILE, Alabama - June 16, 2006 - Mobile Works Inc. hosted the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours and New Member Welcome event at the Alabama Career Center on Thursday, May 25, 2006. Well over 150 local business people, representing over sixty Mobile-area businesses, attended the event and many were exposed for the first time to the Alabama Career Center and its many resources for businesses. President Sydney Raine introduced the Honorable Sam Jones, Mayor of Mobile, as the event's special guest speaker.
Mayor Jones' comments were the highlight of the eveninghe expressed to the attendees his belief that Mobile Works was vitally important to the local business community, and thus the Mobile economy, because it had invested heavily in local businesses and had many resources at its disposal to help businesses with their training needs. Jones also urged attendees to take advantage of the many resources available at the Career Center.

According to Raine, "We believe that we must explore new avenues to get in front of the local community and expose them to the resources available from Mobile Works and at the Alabama Career Center. It is at events like these that business people are attracted to visit the Career Center where they can see for themselves the resources at their disposal. We are confident that many of those businesses that were not aware of us before will be doing business us soon."

Mobile Works is establishing a growing relationship with the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and believes that it is key to attracting the attention of local business. In 2005, Mobile Works contracted with the Mobile Chamber to fund a Workforce Liaison, who was hired to work on the development of industry clusters and other workforce and economic development issues, that are critical to the mission of both partnersand the Mobile economy. The establishment of the liaison position is allowing Mobile Works to work with the Chamber to develop targeted industry clusters, which will allow Mobile Works to strategically target their training programs to the needs of key business industries in Mobile.

Mobile Works has also supported the Chamber by being a chamber member, advertising in The Business View, their monthly magazine, sponsoring their annual Business & Technology Expo in 2005 and again for 2006, and worked very closely with the Chamber to hold the Hurricane Katrina Job Fair to aid hurricane victims in finding new jobs quickly.
