City of Prichard Announces BuildMobile North Program Thursday, Apr 1st, 2010
The City of Prichard in conjunction with Bishop State Community College, Mobile Works, Inc., Mobile County Public School System and the Governor's Office of Workforce Development announces the BuildMobile North welding program. This program will provide free welding training for interested job seekers in Prichard and surrounding communities. The 20-week welding training period is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 12 at T.L. Faulkner Career Technical Center located at 33 West Elm Street. The training will be offered Monday-Thursday from 5:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
"The City of Prichard is excited to join forces with the participating agencies in an effort to enhance the number of skilled workers available in the welding industry," said Mayor Ron Davis. "This will be a great opportunity for our citizens to receive special skills that will meet the growth and training needed to transform the workforce in our community."
"We are pleased to provide resources for training in the high-demand/high-wage field of welding to the citizens of Prichard," states Sydney Raine, Mobile Works President. "Successful candidates will be able to use their training for jobs in the shipbuilding industry. "
Job seekers interested in the welding training can pick up an application at Prichard City Hall located at 216 East Prichard Ave. or T.L. Faulkner Career Technical Center at 33 West Elm Street. Applicants must also pass a drug test. For additional information, call (251) 452-6503.
